Fanal: Levada dos Cedros (PR 14)

The Levada dos Cedros (PR 14) trail is well maintained and clearly marked, however depending on weather conditions, it could be slippery and also foggy, so it will be crucial to follow trail using Strava or another app. The total hike time depends on your overall fitness level and the time you would spend on breaks. The following Trail Timing Guide is the average walking time that sums up to almost 2h15 hours not taking into consideration the breaks. It can serve you as a reference to plan your hike.

🚌 PR 14 Hike Start; distance to Fanal: 7,2 km (around 10:00 am)

🔸 Follow the trail until you get to the first viewpoint ~ 75 mins

🔸 Continue the trail to the second viewpoint: Lagoons and waterfall ~ 15 mins

🔸 Go back from the viewpoint and follow the sign PR 14; distance to Fanal 1,3 km; the trail leads you up a set of winding stairs to the point where you need to cross the road here to continue towards Fanal ~ 40 mins

🔸 Arrive at the Posto Florestal do Fanal area and spend some quality time in the laurel forest

🚌 This is your endpoint - 'Parking Fanal Forest' - Car Park (always check map, especially when foggy) → Pick up point (14:00)

Please remember not to exceed total time (3,5h) and be sure that you arrive at Fanal recreation zone, which is next to the pick up point, at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
